MORPHOLOGICAL CHARACTERISTICS OF SHRUBS AT 1600 TO 1875 M. A.S.L.,

ON THE SOUTHWESTERN SLOPE OF MT. BANAHAW DE LUCBAN,

IN LUCBAN, QUEZON, LUZON ISALND, PHILIPPINES

Abstract

 

The study was conducted at 1,600-1,875 meters above sea level of the Southwestern slope of the Mt. Banahaw de Lucban. Shrub species were identified through its population density and distribution. Twelve identified quadrat were sampled and randomly establish throughout the site alongside trail. A total of 26 shrub species were identified represented in 14 families of shrubs found in the area. There were the family Rubiaceae, Acanthaceae, Melastomataceae, Symplocaceae, Theaceae, Myrtaceae, Myrsinaceae, Clethraceae, Rosaceae, Euphorbiaceae, Lauraceae, Annonaceae, Chloranthaceae, and Gesneriaceae.The shrubs found in the area belong to 21 genera namely: : Hedyotis, Homolanthus, Eurya, Psychotria, Everettia, Rubus, Leptospermum, Terstroemia, Ardisia, Symplocos, Chloranthus, Papualthia, Cryptocarya, Neonauclea, Astronia, Camellia, Cyrtandra, Podocarpus, , Medinilla, Adhatoda, and Clethra.

For the temperature, soil pH level and Nitrogen-Phosphorus-Potassium (NPK) Content were tested for two seasons namely the dry or summer season and wet or rainy season. Distribution of the Shrub Species were also compared using Pearson Correlation Coefficients. Podocarpus polystachys is the only species of shrubs that is directly affected by elevation in relationship with its distribution with -0.72 showing a high relationship. On the other hand, temperature has a negligible to moderate effect on the relationship on the distribution of all the shrub species in the sampling sites or quadrats. Soil fertility has a no effect on the distribution of the shrubs in the whole study area with 0.00 in the correlation, therefore it has no significance whatsoever about the distribution of the shrubs in the whole study area.

malakas na katok ang gumising sa akin, aba eh 3am pa lang, isang oras pa lang akong nakakatulog gawa ng pagre-review kc midterm na. ang landlady ko eh pinaratangan akong may kasama daw akong babae sa kwarto.

sabi ko, kahit tingnan pa niya durabox ko at bulsa ng pantalon, ni anino ng babae eh wala. badtrip yun, ang kwartong may babae eh sa katabi kong pinto pero ako napagbintangan, hindi na lang ako umimik at syempre, hindi ako sumbungero.

tulog-gising ng 6am kasi exam ng 7am. nasa banyo si boardmate na napakatagal maligo, weird na nga kasi, siguro eh may ginagawang kabalbalan na naman sa loob. bakit sa tagal ko na dito sa lucban, hindi pa rin ako masanay sa malamig na tubig paliligo

exam, mukha akong zombie sa puyat, langyang mga tanong sa exam, bakit tuwing gagawa ako ng kodiko eh hindi yun ang itinatanong? pero nag-aral talaga ako kaya chicken feed lang yung exam, minsan common sense lang at maiaaply ko rin pala natutunan ko sa national museum. sabagay, sino bang mag-iinteres na mangolekta at magpreserve ng mga lumot at algae?

after exam, punta ako sa publication office, tambak sa trabaho, daming pipiktyuran, may dapat tapusing artikels, etc. kabado pa ako, paano pag hindi pumasa sa editors. badtrip pa ang computers, bukod sa sira eh puno ng bulate, viruses, trojans, etc.

Yan ang naimbento naming kanta noong P.E.2 kung saan kailangan naming magperform ng kahit anong pambatang sayaw (kahit mukha kaming tanga). Tumatak na ito sa isip ko hanggang ngayon lalo na pag sumasakay ako sa jeep pa-Lucban. Bahagi na ito nang apat na taon ko bilang estudyante, ang naghahatid sa akin papuntang SLPC at pabalik ng Lucena.

                Masayang magbiyahe. Kung bibigyan ako ng dream job, gusto kong babayaran ako dahil sa paglalakbay. Mas gusto kong maging manlalakbay, hindi turista. Mahilig akong magmasid. Bukod sa paligid, inoobserbahan ko rin ang mga taong kasama ko. Nakakatuwang pagmasdan ang mga kasakay mo sa jeep. Sa mga kasamahan kong estudyante na pasahero rin tulad ko, ito ang naobserbahan ko sa kanila, hindi ko na isinama yung ibang pasahero. Heto sila:

First of all, I want to thank Habon for this. I was also thinking of doing the same thing, but I never really tried it.

Why do I hate Friendster? Honestly, I don’t hate it. I just hate my incompetent countrymen that register in Friendster. They think that it’s an MMORPG , in which they must add a lot of people in their “Friends List” including those that they don’t know. Hell, they can’t even make a decent Profile. That is why I lost respect to that poor website.

dahil may pamangkin na ako (na napagkamalang anak ko), medyo nagsasawa na akong pagkagising sa umaga ay nursery rhymes ang kanta. Nde ko alam kung baket, siguro dahil nung bata ako eh walang ganun (oo na, bitter ako dahil deprived ako nung baby pa ako).

may 13 days old na akong pamangkin na baby, nakakatuwa, spoiled saken at vibes kame dahil pag ako may hawak sa kanya eh tumitigil siya sa pag iyak. yun nga lang, napansin kong may nadevelop siyang attitude na gusto laging karga at ngayon ay sinisisi ako dito sa bahay dahil daw inispoiled ko na ganun. ang sarap pala pag may baby sa bahay. saka baket ang baby kahit hinde maligo eh ang bango pa ren. da best talaga, mas pipiliin ko ang amoy ng baby kaysa sa pabango kong CK1 (yabang!).

huhuhu, stressful week na naman, exams at paggagawa ng grades. watdahel! ang hirap pala maging teacher. at ang hirap palang magbagsak. pinoproblema ko ang mga bagsak kong estudyante kung ipapasa ko ba o ano? mag mamagic ba ako ng grades, hihilutin o magbibigay ng considerations, etc. kahit hinde related sa subjects?

napansin ko lang na habang tunatagal eh patamad ng patamad ang estudyante. aminado ako nung time ko na super tamad den ako na hinde ako nag aaral most of the time pero pumapasa ako, hindi dahil sa matalino ako kundi dahil iniintindi ko ang lessons habang discussions pa lang at paminsan minsang nagbabasa. totoong reading can help, A LOT!
